I am absolutely addicted to the television show that this book is based on, ABC's Once Upon a Time. I did purchase this book because I love the show and wanted more of it. There was not too much extra information in the book versus the show, but it was a very fun read and refreshed me on all that had happened in the first season. There is just something that I love about reading a story over watching it. It was very easy to read and quite well written. The story does constantly shift between the world of Snow White/Mary Margaret and Emma Swan and between the past and the present, but it does it quite well and seamlessly. I am usually not a fan of that style of writing, but I did not mind it in this book because it never got too confusing. This is a lovely story that I highly recommend reading whether or not you watch the show.

I love the show and it's been one of my favorites ever since the first episode. I was so excited to see that there was a book out and I now have it in digital format as well as trade size paperback. I really enjoyed reading this book and found that it contains extra information that wasn't in the episodes. Here and there, as you're reading, you'll stumble on something that wasn't revealed or touched on in the shows. Now, this isn't a literary work like one would call Pride and Prejudice or Treasure Island, but this is an enjoyable read, a feel good one to unwind with after a hard or long day.

I think it's an interesting idea to write a book based so closely in a TV series. I am a huge fan of Once Upon A Time band of fairytales in general. That being said, however, I felt that this was very much a fan fiction: it was edited in a way that suited the author, the author, having no correlation with the show, inserted her opinion on the characters feelings and interpretation of different situations. I also felt that by only telling the story by Emma and Mary Margaret/Snow White`s point of view is a mistake because critical events, perspectives and stories were left out of the narrative. Although I see the effort in trying to incorporate the stories missed, I found it somewhat confusing, and I honestly don't know if I would have bothered to try to interpret what the author was trying to portray. BOTTOM LINE: TO UNDERSTAND THIS BOOK IT IS ALMOST ESSENTIAL TO HAVE WATCHED THE SHOW. OTHERWISE ITS NOT WORTH READING.

I was just not impressed by this book. I don't know what it is about books written for TV shows, but they seem to find the writers who just don't have an incredible amount of talent.

I had seen a few episodes of the Once Upon a Time series, but only enough to know what the book was based on. The writing is fantastic and you find yourself literally falling into the story forgetting everything else around you! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great read!
